Re: eBay...are these coins fake?

The year is correct, but I would not call them fakes without an examination. Are they errors? I doubt it. Are they worth more than face value? NO NO NO! Looking at the pics, I can see wear along the rims on both sides of each coin.

My guess, is either the seller or another put deliberate wear on the coins' edge (check out the date for example), but left the main image intact. Take some 90% grind it down for a couple of minutes, and sell it for a large profit.

The seller makes no claims to the authenticity, so any added value above face is in the buyer's mind.

Thanks for the fun romp through eBay.

I just pulled out two BU's (same coins, same year) and they do way proper.

I also looked closely at the Kennedy in the photo and yes there is wear but not enough in my mind to account for almost 0.20 gr.

There are plenty fish in the sea, I'd throw these two back and let 'em grow a little more.

Maranatha,

They appear to be lost wax castings with poor finish work. I've seen many gold examples but never silver. I'd have to have them in hand to really tell.

I very seldom buy off EBay these days. Too many fakes, too many idiots driving up bidding. But I swear, if you spray painted dog shit gold and called it "rare," you could find some dumbass on EBay to buy it!

If you look at the dime closely it looks likes its a double strike error, I would have to say low weight and a double die error is too coincidental
